Orphanage No. 24 - New to Magic of Music in 2003
100 moderately to severely mentally challenged children who live in this facility Monday to Friday, and then spend weekends with their parents.
The children in these orphanages all suffer a certain degree of limitation in their mental functioning that impacts communication, motor and social skills, as well as intellectual capacity. They develop more slowly and take longer to learn how to walk and speak, and how to manage simple personal needs like dressing and feeding themselves. Other consequences of the condition include delayed or incomplete development of memory, muscle coordination, attention span and emotional control.
Special School No. 73 - New to Magic of Music in 2003
More than 150 children with special educational needs live at the school Monday through Friday, and go home to their parents each weekend. In many instances, their learning disabilities are the result of various somatic illnesses that affect the central nervous system and can cause delayed mental development.
These students display a marked decrease in the ability to remain focused and to retain information. They have difficulty mastering basic reading, writing, math and verbal skills, and often also have emotional problems. Diagnosed as a child begins to lag behind his or her peers, delayed mental development is now viewed as a condition that may be temporary and offset by corrective influences. The curriculum at this school is designed specifically for its special students. Class size is small and courses are tailored both to address learning challenges and to meet educational needs.
Special School No. 17
More than 100 children with conditions of the muscular-skeletal system attend this school. Age 6 and up, they live at the school during the week and spend the weekend with their families.
Many of the children served by this facility suffer from cerebral palsy, which causes paralysis in their limbs and/or face. In the majority of cases, cerebral palsy also weakens their mental abilities.
Vsekhsvyatskoy
Support organization in the Moscow region that brings together more than 90 families with children who have physical and mental disabilities. The goal is to assist the families in every way possible.
