Alexei Bruni
Concertmaster
Alexei Bruni was born in Tambov, Russia in 1954 and began to play the violin at the age of six. He is a 1984 graduate of the prestigious Moscow Conservatory, where he earned a doctorate degree and presently serves as professor of the violin.
He is a past winner of both the Paganini and Thibaud international violin competitions. With a repertoire that includes more than thirty-five concerti, Bruni performs throughout the world in recital and as a soloist with many leading orchestras.
Bruni served as concertmaster of the USSR State Symphony under Yevgeny Svetlanov and, in 1990, became the founding concertmaster of the Russian National Orchestra, a position he continues to hold. He has led the RNO and has been featured soloist in a series of highly acclaimed international tours and recordings.
Bruni has been designated an Honored Artist of Russia a rare distinction awarded by his country for significant artistic contributions. A prolific poet, he recently published his first collection of works.
